VFX Project Composition and Breakdown


Final composition with added foley sounds. I'm reasonably happy with the outcome. There are some still some improvements that could be made.


 
Shot 1 Breakdown

Breakdown of Shot 1 in After Effects.


Walking subject rotoscoped/keyed.

An initial rotoscoped matte in After Effects was improved using a chroma key. Spill correction was also applied.


Unreal Engine environment separated into foreground and background plates.

A separate render pass of the scene with a yellow plane between the foreground and background was produced. The foreground was chroma keyed, but had obvious colour bleed. So that matte was used on the original render to create a matte with no yellow colour interference.


Lighting and colour correction added to subject.

A glow layer was added to the right side of the subject to try and imitate the sunlight to the right, and some adjustments to the levels were applied to try and match black/white levels.


Layers composited on top of each other with sound.

Foreground, greenscreen layer, and background plate were layered with foley sound effects of footsteps and a pedestrian street.
